NO to development / GROW the Prairie Protect Ojibway Forever
The Ojibway Prairie Complex is one of the most biologically rich landscapes in Canada—a rare, living ecosystem where endangered species survive just steps from the hustle and bustle of the city. This extraordinary place now stands at a crossroads.
Four parcels of land directly bordering the park—over forty acres of living prairie—have come up for public sale. Priced at $17 million and zoned for commercial development, these lands could either allow Ojibway to grow or permanently constrain it.
Years ago, development plans for this very land were halted by committed citizens who advocated and refused to give up.
Opportunities like this are rare—and once lost, they may never return. As Windsor–Essex moves toward becoming home to Canada’s second national urban park, now is the moment for all levels of government to act.
Ojibway is a national treasure that deserves room to thrive and grow—not to be swallowed upby big-box stores and strip malls.
